Flower Arrangements

We can use fish bowls for arranging clay flowers as it makes a pretty picture. The top of the bowl can be covered with cling film to avoid dust .It makes an interesting display of various flowers instead of the usual vase.
A circular arrangement works best for bowl containers and looks great as a center piece.
A similar arrangement can be made with real or other artificial flowers in a pleasing manner.

Pink Rose Basket

Getting inspired by my peers I thought of painting my cold porcelain roses with oil paints. I have used red and white colors to get pink shading . I feel thats its hard to get shading without using oil paints in CP .
Oil colors take a long time to dry unlike acrylic paints which dry in minutes. These roses were painted a few days back and are still slightly wet. But acrylic colors do not give a realistic look and oil colors are better in this respect.
This year I am experimenting with various methods of coloring Cold Porcelain flowers .

Flowers- Cold Porcelain

These roses , filler flowers and leaves have been made of Cold Porcelain dough and have stood the test of time since they were handcrafted months ago. I am quite happy as they are still as fresh and gorgeous as ever !
I decided to frame and hang these flowers as I wanted to make something new instead of keeping them in vases . When I made these flowers I did not know that I would be using them for a montage . Now I have realised that if I want to make more framed pieces I need lots of filler flowers and leaves !!

Celebrations

A year ago I discovered Cold Porcelain flowers on the internet and have been in love with them ever since. These flowers were handmade (without cutters ) a year back and have survived the test of time . None of them have cracked , faded or disintegrated ! This calls for celebrations as these amazing flowers are non-allergic, fresh , timeless and I have learnt to make them !!
Now I feel that I should do something creative with the flowers accumulating in my home , maybe make some gift items like this wreath. All my vases are full of different cold porcelain flowers , latest being the pansies ! I keep doing different crafts but come back to Cold Porcelain again and again every month .
I started with roses , my favourites, went on to make cala lily, daisies, gerbera, bonsai tree,dahlias, pansies . I have to perfect gerberas, carnations , orchids , peonies and many more , its challenging to make flowers without cutters.
Cold Porcelain is also known as Italian dough craft , Spanish dough craft or Lamasa . It seems that the basic recipe takes the name of the country its used to make the dough-craft ! So there is Thai Clay , Japanese Clay with some variations , but all are air-drying home-made clays. There are also readymade air drying clays sold as branded items in the market.
Its difficult to believe that beautiful flowers can be made with ingredients easily available in the kitchen. After a few trials and errors I was able to make the dough good enough for flower making on the humble stove in an old aluminium pan . Somehow I could not make the CP dough in the microwave and it got spoiled , it took a life of its own and refused to turn into a docile ball of clay.
Cold Porcelain shrinks , so its really exciting to see what the creation looks like after drying !

Log Flower Arrangement

Making flowers is one thing but displaying them is also an art !
The flowers featured are made of cold porcelain, I am addicted to it nowadays.
The log piece can of desired thickness, circular or oval.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
1 Thermocol piece
2 Paper
3 Black and Brown acrylic or poster color. brushes
4 Fevicol
5 Roses made of cold porcelain or any material (method given in my blog )
METHOD
Cut a round piece of thermocol ,stick a plain piece of paper on it with fevicol.
Color the papered top part with brown color and make circles as in a real piece of wood.
Color the edge with black color. The uneven thermocol gives it a natural look.
Let it dry.
Stick the roses and other flowers on it to one side with fevicol.
Its ready , looks different and is very easy to make !

Roses

Roses are my all time favourites and surprisingly easy to make.These are made with cold porcelain as also the basket .

Cold Porcelain Roses

At last my Cold Porcelain roses and leaves had air-dried to perfection and were ready for display. I thought of varnishing them but did not as they were looking quite natural without the gloss.
